Tigers Aquire 17yr Old Forward Elijah Brown

Technically he is 18 but in his 17 yr old hockey season.

The Medicine Hat Tigers announced on Tuesday that they have acquired 17-year-old forward Elijah Brown from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for a 2nd round draft pick in 2018 and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2019.

Elijah Brown
Elijah was part of the Seattle Thunderbird's WHL Championship team last season. He put up 13 points in 64 games, as well as dressed for 6 playoff games.

Brown is listed at 5'9 168lbs.

Scouting report
A left-handed centreman. Scouting report says he has a lot of speed. Lots of skill and creativity.
His stats suggest that he has the tools to be a point per game player in the future.

Left Seattle Earlier in the year
Brown left Seattle earlier in the year, and Seattle put him on their suspended list. Seattle's GM Russ Farwell revealed to the media earlier in the year that Brown went home because he was unhappy with his ice time.  His last game was at the end of October, where he totalled 5 points in 14 games.

Thoughts
It feels like a great move to bolster their 17yr old depth. It sounds like he could step into a 3rd line centre role right now with hopes that he becomes a 2nd line centre next season.

Cameron MacPhee
The Tigers traded the playing rights to Cameron MacPhee to Prince George for a 7th round pick.

Weird, I thought players only left and asked to be traded from the Tigers - that this doesn't happen on other teams?

That is what I thought! Probably us fans have to realise it is now the generation of the entitled youth, they will be more demanding as opposed to respectful from now on. I am guessing this is actually occurring across the league. In saying that, I feel like it happens too often in MH and the coach/GM is likely the cause.

Wow a second and third round pick for a player that went home in October

Can we trade management with management from the East division before the deadline lol

The circus continues

What would the conditions be for us to give them the 3rd round pick next year to go along with the 2nd round pick we give them this year?

Looking at it glass half full, he should be talented and should provide scoring for years to come. At least we did not get a 19 year old. It is building for the future. And our last draft class was bigger, so could be building to be a bit better size wise

What was McPhees issue as to why he left? A bit rich considering he was a so-so player. Nothing overly special. I have to admit, I find it strange all these demands. I think Shawn is likely a jerk, arrogant and unpleasant to play under. But do you think Sutter is a treat? What about Don Hay. I think Shawn is to blame for some but I think some is also the type of kids we have these days - I agree with Anon 3:08 - entitlement is a big factor

Not sure about MacPhee.

Not sure the conditions on the 3rd. I'm almost guessing performance-based because he seems like a player that has a ton of potential.

Longo now on active roster. I hope he stays up

Actually Brent Sutter is a very nice man if you've ever met him and his coaching style has changed. Yes, he always looks intense and there's nothing wrong with that and actually the players love playing for him in Red Deer

He ran his players behind the bus after a bad loss. He bag skated them after a bad loss in MH - right after the game. I have met him, nice guy. He is tough but I do not for a moment believe he is not a tough guy expecting the best every moment.

Been a billet for over a decade, kids speak highly of Sutter and Hay but say that both are hot headed and tough to play for. One kid thought Hay was the most unlikeable, tough and hot headed coach he had ever played for and Clouston was not as bad.

MacPhee didn't leave on his own ...he was sent.

I did not know he was sent. Glad to hear he has another opportunity.

Here is hoping the new guy brings some improvement to the third line. Poor tigers, a lot of injuries to important people, would look a lot different if we had them back!

Steele no longer listed on the roster. I assume we released him and will probably go play junior A.
