Rumors
Rumors started cropping up after he wasn't listed on the Tigers pre-season roster.
One poster brought forward an article from NBC. It shed light that shultz was potentially looking to play for Team China as well as being injured. Another commentor mentioned that he was going to go over and play in the KHL.

The article goes on to mention that despite recovering from a broken leg, he was battling a nagging groin issue the rest of the season and well into the off-season. He estimated it will take a few more months for his injuries to heal.

Couple Questions Remain
Their are still a few questions. Uncertainty remains in their goal-tending situation with Michael Bullion's overage status and whether the Tigers will use Hollett as the starter to keep an extra OA at forward/defence
Their is also uncertainty on the availability of Zach Fischer should the flames decide to keep him in the AHL. Linus Nassen looks doubtful he will come to camp, since the Tigers haven't heard anything from him at the start of camp. That means that Rubins would be a lock to stay. He played already in a pre-season game so it appears he has fully recovered from his off-season recuperation. If Nassen suddenly decided to show up that could make things interesting.

You don't trade a guy who may have been one of your top scorers for an 18 year old goaltender and the not have that guy as your starter. Unless Hollet gets hurt in Ottawas camp he's the starter and McGovern is his backup regardless of what happens with Zach in Calgary.
IMO I largely agree with you. Hollett unfortunately isn't going to NHL camp through, he went down with an Illness and will miss it.
But.Clouston has made terrible roster decisons in ths past that most people with any knowledge was really confused by.I'll just leave it at that.
Hollett was diagnosed with mono spent a few days in the hospital.
That sucks for Hollett. I read that he lost 20 pounds and will be out for a while.
With him out the Tigers have MCgovern17, Kaeden Lane(16) Bullion(20).
They must all kiss the same girl to get mono.
Sorry if that joke was in terrible taste but puzzling why this team always gets mono.

Anon 10:49, I do not understand your comment, how can Hollett being sick is a result of terrible decisions that Clouston has made??? Do you expect Clouston to have the ability to read the future and know that the potential starting goaltender will come down with mono??? Seriously, you are going to hang this on Clouston????
When is the overage deadline? I know it is a bit into the season. I would think that Hollett will be up and going by then, even if he is not at his peak they are not going to keep Boullion if they think Hollett can carry the load. And with decent back up I would think they still intend on going with releasing Boullion.
I'm watching the Minnesota wild prospects game and Mason Shaw just left the ice due to injury. He had the puck behind the net and was getting pressure by a defender and it looked like his ankle/skate buckled/bent oddly. He needed to be helped off the ice.
Hopefully it is nothing too serious.
Shaw said a big guy fell on his leg, causing right knee to buckle. That doesn't sound good good, will be reevaluated in the next few days.

Just chatted with Mason Shaw, who's sticking around Traverse City until Tuesday. Could've gone back today to get MRI but wanted to be here.
Nothing definitive yet and Shaw is still hoping for the best regarding knee injured on Saturday. Trying to keep a positive attitude.
Losing Shaw for an extended period would be a huge blow. Acl or mcl surgery would most likely cost him a full season.
MCL surgery is not a thing, so if it is not ACL/PCL then hopefully only 6 weeks.
Hoping the best for Shaw and Hollett. Not how anyone expected the season to start.
Another update on Shaw;
Chuck Fletcher said this afternoon Mason Shaw could be out 4 to 6 months with a leg injury. What a terrible blow if true.
Hockeyfeed.com is reporting Shaw has a torn ACL and will be out up to six months.
It appears that the Medicine Hat Tigers are going to be without F Mason Shaw for up to six months due to a knee injury he suffered while with the NHL’s Minnesota Wild.
Shaw hurt his right knee — it’s feared that he tore the ACL. If that’s the case — he is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Wednesday — Shaw is looking at reconstructive surgery and an absence that could run to six months.

So it hasn't been confirmed with an MRI yet, but believed he has torn his ACL, which has a recovery of 4 to 6 months.
Which is anywhere from January to the end of the season. That will be a massive blow to the Tigers if the MRI confirms that.
It appears Zach Fischer has made an impression at the rookie tournament. This from the Flames web site:
Zach Fischer was passed over in two drafts before being selected in the fifth round, 140th overall, this summer following a tremendous 2016-17 campaign with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Fischer leapt from eight goals and 13 points in 2015-16 to 34 tallies and 63 points last year and upped his physical game as well. In 2015-16, he had just 15 PIM. Last year? A whooping 145, thanks in large part to his 14 scraps during the regular season. He carried that momentum into this weekend's tournament, putting up one goal and two points and establishing himself as one of the hardest working forecheckers on the ice.
I watched a couple games and he was hitting everything that moved.
Poor Mason, what shitty luck! And poor Tigers too, I thought last year was so bad for injuries and illness but this year is sure starting on a bad foot too. I guess it will give some of the young guys a chance to show their stuff and hopefully improve the team in the long run. Speedy recover to both Mason and Jordan!
So the question is, do you keep him? 6 months......what can he contribute? He is taking up a 20 year old spot. Kinda tricky
I've heard rumblings Shaw was going to be given the *C*. Thats really a moot point as I really feel horrible for a great kid whos had shitty luck.

Shaw is supposed to hear his results of the MRI today.

The MRI revealed that Shaw has a torn ACL. Reconstructive surgery has a 4-6 month injury recovery time.
Both Fischer and Rassell made main camp with the Flames which starts Today.
If one of or both Fischer or Rassell don't return this year it's going to be a drastically different squad that was originally forecast.
Tigers coaches are saying: Best case scenario Shaw is back in 6 months....which is basically missing the entire regular season...:(

Clouston usually makes his roster decisions before the season starts. To see this many extra guys on the roster is a good sign of the incoming talent with 6 new forwards and 4 new defenceman still on the roster.

The Tigers will probably be shorthanded for the opening weekend. Rubins, Hollett, Shaw, are confirmed to be out.
Quenneville, Rassell are still at camp and may or may not be here.
Think you can add another dman to the list. It appears that Linus Nassen will be wearing the orange and black this season. Puts the Tigers in a position of having three euros which would most likely see Kristians Rubins being the odd man out.
